Donation Spotlight: Vissagan Gopalakrishnan

Desi Dance Network Inc. is constantly amazed by the generosity and selflessness of members from the community. In collaboration with Vissagan Gopalakrishnan (VGo), we have set up a download donation link for his latest album Riyaaz. Any dollar amount would be greatly appreciated and would help DDN continue to spread the awareness of South Asian Performing Arts globally.

Artist Spotlight: Ishita Mili

Ishita Bhattacharya, also known as Ishita Mili, is currently pursuing a Masters of Business and Science degree at Rutgers University. She spent most of this past year restructuring her life, because she decided against medical school and wanted to pursue a degree that would enhance her goal of combining and meshing multiple fields. In academics, this meant bringing art and technology to science. In performing arts, this meant intertwining business and dance together. Ishita wants to keep her future open, in order to follower her interests wherever they may lead her.

Organization Spotlight: Pao Bhangra XVII

Pao Bhangra XVII: The Bhangra Olympics, an exhibition event, was established in 2002 and represents the Bhangra circuit. The founding members wanted to create a fun and stress-free weekend that allowed teams to pursue what they love, while meeting new individuals and enjoying themselves. They are now celebrating their 17th year on March 24th, 2018 in New York. The event is located in Barton Hall at Cornell University and doors open at 6:00PM.

Social Justice Spotlight: Aarthy and Swathi

As a community, we strive to embrace all individuals of various ethnicities, genders, religions, and sexualities. We believe that everyone should be treated equally and with respect. This series of spotlights focuses on social justice pieces, so that everyone feels welcomed and supported. 

Organization Spotlight: Karisma

Karisma, a charity showcase, was established a few years ago in 2011. The founding members, Meenakshi Krishna and Sonia Joshi, wanted to create a way to give back to the community, and to those less fortunate, by combining their talent and passion for their culture. They came up with the spectacular idea of Karisma and are now celebrating their 5th Annual Showcase, on October 8, 2016, in New York.
